Part of this historical building dates back to 300 years and was recently restored by the owners with great attention to detail. You can easily feel the warm and cosy atmosphere of this comfortable self-catering accommodation as soon as you enter. This house of character is accessed through a private alley making it very quiet and peaceful. Right at the entrance you can see the original stone oven of the bakery which was still in operation up to the 1980's. Beautiful old vaults house a pleasantly decorated seating area where a sofa can be used as an additional bed. You can admire the "lenbi" where women used to make the dough for a whole week's bread. The entrance of this rental house , which can easily be heated in winter by the small wood stove, is tastefully decorated with local tiles on the walls together with antique furniture. Another original feature is an ash-pit found during restoration. This can easily be used as a wine cellar. The flagstone flooring throughout the bakery adds further character. During the hot summer days, the small but landscaped courtyard invites anyone to relax in the spa in the shade of the huge banana trees . Also on the ground floor there is an airconditioned twin single bed-room with a shower en-suite. On the first floor of the former bakery is another airconditioned double room with a tiny balcony and en-suite shower room. Here is a staircase leading to an open-plan loft overlooking the living room and where one can find another double bed. Here curtains can be used for privacy. This loft leads to a small terrace overlooking the alley. The air-conditioned living room with the satellite TV and the lovingly crafted kitchen lead to a small balcony overlooking the internal yard and which gives access to the roof. From the roof of the house lies the view of the north of Gozo to the sea. You can spend memorable time on the sun-loungers or enjoy some grills on the BBQ or a hearty pizza cooked in the wood oven. More charm is added to this place when you hear the fish vendor, followed by the baker and the fruit and vegetable vendor who come to the small village every morning. However taking a stroll in the picturesque capital city Victoria (or Rabat as we call it) and do shopping there is so easy and just 5 minutes away by car. Marsalforn which is a fishing village is just 2km from Zebbug and offers a vast variety of restaurants, bars and cafes for every taste. The owners of this vacation rental, Mary and Andrew, treat their special guests with great care and will help with all your needs to make you have a memorable and comfortable stay at their restored bakery "il-Forn".

Mary and Andrew made us so welcome on our arrival on Gozo. We were greeted with local snacks which were well received after our journey from England. After a tour of the lovely quirky house, Mary and Andrew gave us lots of information about the island's attractions. Gozo's history is complex and interesting and there are indications of its changeable past everywhere you go. The bus service is brilliant and so cheap, we used it all the time going from one end of Gozo to the other with ease. The friendly atmosphere on Gozo made us feel very relaxed, we became regulars at the local pizzaria where the food is good and the wine is cheap and also good!
Il Forn is beautifully renovated, we were very comfortable. The roof terrace has amazing views, we used it a lot .Everything was spotless , the beds were good, we felt at home immediately and hope very much to return one day. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
Direct or Split Transfer
Direct Transfer: A person will be waiting for you at the airport and drives you directly to the house.
Split transfer: A person drives you from the airport to the ferry terminal. On the other side we will pick you up and drive you to the house.
From the airport take bus X1 in direction of Cirkewwa. Take the ferry (crossing is 25 minutes). Once in Gozo take bus 301 to Victoria/Rabat.
From Rabat take bus 309 to Zebbug. Stop at bus stop ABRAM. Facing the bus stop, turn left and take the first road on your right. Walk for 100 metres. The house is on the right hand side, in an alley. You will see a white gate.
From the airport go in the direction of Gozo (ferry) or CIirkewwa which is the berthing place of the ferry.
Drive to Victoria. Once in Victoria you go past Arkadia & MCDonalds(on right hand side), past Duke on left hand side and then a few meters up you come to a crossroad.
Turn right and drive for about 40 meters and then immediately left to take the way to Zebbug. This is Triq Ta' Wara Is-Sur and it is important that you take this road. Keep on same road, for about 500 meters and then you come again to a crossroads.
Take the roundabout and turn on right to take the way to Zebbug (this is Triq l-Imghallem).
The road goes uphill and as soon as you see the first houses take the left Turn (with the Santa Maria Bar & Grill Restaurant).
Keep on for not more than 70 meters. The house is on the right hand side, in an alley. You see a white gate.
